Archroma’s heritage dates back to 1886, when a small Textile dye-maker Kern & Sandoz was founded in Basel, Switzerland. More than a century later, in 1995, Company spun off from Sandoz as Clariant, which later acquired Specialty Chemicals business of Hoechst in 1997. Archroma came into existence in September 2013 when Clariant sold its Textile Chemicals, Paper specialties and Emulsion businesses to SK Capital. Later in 2015, Archroma acquired BASF’s Textile business, which was followed by integration of Huntsman Textile Effects in March 2023.
Archroma is principally engaged in the manufacturing & sales of Specialty Chemicals with two major business segments. Textile Effects business plays a key role in the entire Textile supply chain from Fiber to Finish with specialty dyes & chemicals for pretreatment, dyeing, printing and finishing of Textiles. Packaging Technologies business is engaged in different applications for whiteness, coloration and chemicals for Packaging, Paper, Coatings & Construction industries.
Archroma Pakistan is a limited liability Company listed on Pakistan Stock Exchange since 1965.
Mr. Irfan Chawala holds Directorship position in Archroma Pakistan since February 2020 and was last elected on the Board as Executive Director in March 2024. Mr. Chawala is a Finance graduate and a Fellow member of Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) with over 30 years of diverse working & cultural experience of different industries & geographical locations.
Mr. Chawala is currently working as CEO of Archroma Pakistan and is additionally a Regional Vice President (RVP) for Textile Effects business of Archroma in Pakistan. He has earlier worked with Clariant for about 14 years in different roles in Finance, Marketing, Commercial Operations and Business Support in Pakistan, China, Singapore and South-east Asia. Mr. Chawala started his professional career with PricewaterhouseCoopers and has also worked in the past with Lucky Cement as CFO / Director Finance. Mr. Chawala rejoined Archroma as CFO in February 2020 and later also worked as RVP for Packaging Technologies for Pakistan & Central Asia before taking over the current role in June 2025.
